Viral Chawla
Founder, Yoga School of Bharat
Viral Chawla is an author, Yoga teacher, researcher, entrepreneur, and lifelong student dedicated to making authentic yogic knowledge simple, practical, and accessible for everyone. His journey has been shaped not only through formal study and personal practice but also through the profound influence of his two grandfathers, Late Shri Babu Ram Chawla and Late Shri Shyam Sunder Madan, whose lives embodied the values of wisdom, selfless service, compassion, discipline, and conscious living.
Growing up under their guidance, he witnessed spirituality not merely as a philosophy to be discussed, but as a way of living every moment with awareness, integrity, and kindness. Their examples planted the seeds that would later evolve into the vision of the Yoga School of Bharat—a place where Yoga is understood not simply as physical exercise, but as a complete science of understanding oneself and living consciously.
Today, through education, writing, teaching, and community service, he continues the mission of preserving and sharing authentic yogic wisdom in a manner that is relevant, practical, and meaningful for modern life.
A Journey of Learning, Exploration, and Purpose
Unlike many journeys that begin with the desire to become a teacher, my journey began with a simple curiosity—to understand life itself.
Questions such as Who am I? Why do we think, feel, and behave the way we do? What is consciousness? What is the purpose of human life? gradually became the driving force behind years of study, observation, experimentation, and self-inquiry. Rather than accepting ideas at face value, I found myself drawn toward exploring them from multiple perspectives—science, psychology, philosophy, religion, Yoga, and spirituality.
This search was deeply influenced by the lives of my two grandfathers. Late Shri Babu Ram Chawla taught me, through his quiet example, that true spirituality is reflected in humility, compassion, discipline, and the ability to remain centred through every circumstance. Late Shri Shyam Sunder Madan showed me that one can fulfil worldly responsibilities with excellence while continuing to live with joy, curiosity, service, and an ever-growing desire to learn. Together, they demonstrated that wisdom is not found merely in books, but in the way we choose to live each day.
Inspired by their lives, I began exploring the classical teachings of Yoga alongside modern scientific understanding. My formal studies eventually led me to complete the internationally recognised 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Programme, accredited by Yoga Alliance. Yet, like my teachers before me, I have always believed that certification is only the beginning. True learning continues throughout life, through practice, observation, reflection, and direct experience.
Over the past several years, I have had the privilege of teaching Yoga, philosophy, meditation, and conscious living to students from diverse backgrounds. With more than three years of teaching experience, I have come to appreciate that every student arrives with a unique story, and that the role of a teacher is not to provide all the answers, but to help each individual discover them through their own experience.
As my research deepened, I noticed that knowledge about human life was often scattered across different disciplines. Science explained the body, psychology explored the mind, philosophy questioned existence, religion preserved traditions, and spirituality pointed toward direct experience. Yet these fields were rarely presented together in a way that revealed their interconnectedness. This realisation inspired years of research and eventually gave birth to my book, User Manual for a Human Being.
The book represents an attempt to organise these diverse streams of knowledge into a single, logical journey—from the origins of the universe and the evolution of life to the human body, mind, energy, consciousness, Yoga, and self-realisation. It does not ask readers to believe anything blindly. Instead, it invites them to observe, question, reflect, and discover truth through their own experience.
The same vision naturally expanded into the creation of the Yoga School of Bharat. My intention has never been simply to teach Yoga postures, but to build an educational platform where people can explore the complete science of Yoga—its philosophy, psychology, anatomy, ethics, meditation, breathwork, and practical application in everyday life. Through structured courses, workshops, books, articles, and community programmes, the school seeks to make authentic yogic knowledge freely accessible to anyone with a sincere desire to learn.
Alongside this work, I also founded CraftEarth, an initiative dedicated to preserving, promoting, and supporting India’s rich heritage of traditional arts, crafts, and handmade products. While Yoga preserves the wisdom of inner culture, CraftEarth celebrates the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions that have shaped India’s external heritage for generations. Though different in their focus, both initiatives are united by the same purpose—to preserve knowledge, honour tradition, and pass it on meaningfully to future generations.
Beyond teaching and writing, I remain a lifelong student. I continue to study classical scriptures, modern scientific research, philosophy, psychology, and contemplative traditions while integrating these learnings through personal practice. I believe that the responsibility of a teacher is first to remain a sincere learner, because genuine understanding continues to deepen throughout life.
My greatest aspiration is not simply to build an institution or publish books, but to create educational resources that help people understand themselves more clearly, think more deeply, and live with greater awareness, compassion, and responsibility. Whether through a class, a conversation, a book, or a single article, I hope to encourage others to explore life with curiosity rather than certainty, with experience rather than blind belief, and with understanding rather than division.
A Continuing Journey
The Yoga School of Bharat is not the destination of my journey—it is simply one expression of it.
It is a humble effort to carry forward the values I inherited from my teachers, continue learning from every experience, and contribute whatever little I can toward preserving and sharing the timeless wisdom of Yoga for future generations.
If my work encourages even one person to understand themselves more deeply, live more consciously, or discover greater peace within, then I will consider this journey meaningful.
I warmly welcome you to walk this path with us—not as a follower, but as a fellow seeker, where we continue to learn, grow, and evolve together.
